Your First Visit:
The purpose of your first appointment is to become acquainted with Dr. Crump, his staff and to determine the nature of your orthodontic needs. Dr. Crump will examine your teeth, the surrounding tissues, your jaw joints (TMJ), facial profile, growth pattern and your smile. We will also review your dental and medical history. After listening to your chief concerns, any treatment options will be carefully explained and Dr. Crump will inform you if orthodontic treatment is required at this time or in the future. As a courtesy to you, there is no charge for this first visit. If you and Dr. Crump agree that any diagnostic records are required for further treatment planning, they can be taken at your first appointment or at a follow-up appointment, depending on what is most convenient for you. There is a charge for any diagnostic records.
At the conclusion of your first visit, you will be informed of any orthodontic problems you have, how and when they should be corrected, the estimated treatment time and the projected costs. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before beginning any treatment.
Diagnostic Records:
Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, impressions for study models of your teeth, digital photos of your face, teeth and bite and digital x-rays of your teeth and bite. Our digital x-rays are taken by a state of the art panoramic/cephalometric machine, which produces higher resolution and lower radiation exposure than traditional machines. It is environmentally friendly since it eliminates all chemicals needed for traditional film development. These digital images are also easy to share with your dentist or other health care providers.
Dr. Crump analyzes this information to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in monitoring the progress of treatment. Depending on your individual problem, all of these records may not be necessary. The results of these
records will be thoroughly discussed a few weeks later at your consultation appointment.
Consultation Appointment:
After Dr. Crump has evaluated your diagnostic records, he will discuss your treatment with you in detail at the consultation appointment. Any questions regarding the details of your treatment, length of treatment, cost, payment options and other concerns you may have about your orthodontic treatment will be answered at this time.
